Maps and Globes

We continue to inquire about maps and globes while we make sense of how they are made. We have been looking at globes and larger maps of the world.
While sharing our designs for school maps we came across some interesting questions: How do you show different floors on a map? Why do some countries call the ground floor the first floor and others do not?
As we have been creating our own maps of the school, we found that orientation is important as well as proximity. We discovered that our classroom is above 1.2. And that grade 3 is across from us, that the office is below the German classrooms and that we can see the Music room from our window but not the art room.
