First Day in 2.2!

We had a wonderful first day in 2.2 getting to know each other, listening to and talking about a book, drawing pictures and and making plans. The kids had their first Music class with Ms. Kagiyama as well as their first German class.

We engaged in a guided discovery of a box of crayons by guessing what was inside the wrapped box using their five senses and some good inquiry skills.

The read-aloud book was, The Teacher from the Black Lagoon, by Mike Thayer. Quite a discussion ensued after reading it as the kids told of their favorite part and discussed how the plot worked. We decided to invite people who work in our school to come to our class and read other types of "Black Lagoon" books to us such as, The Librarian from the Black Lagoon, The Principal from the Black Lagoon, The Nurse from the Black Lagoon, etc...

Lots of ideas came about to write our own version of a Black Lagoon book which we will investigate and work on in the coming weeks.

All-in-all, a fun day of making friends and learning!
